Gulf Coast Social Service Extends Services to St. Mary Parish
On Monday February 24, Chief Chad M. Adams joined other first responder leaders at the EOC building in Morgan City to learn about services provided by Gulf Coast Social Services (GCSS). Leaders learned GCSS provides a Mobile Crises Response (MCR) for various youth services to local Parishes. The 24/7 (MCR) unit is designed to work with first responders in helping youths up to 20 years of age with the following:
-Acute Mental health Problems -Severe anxiety or panic attacks
-Substance use emergencies -Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
-Other behavioral health crises.
Mrs. Brandy Lirette with GCSS serves as the regional director. Mrs. Lirette urges the public to reach out to GCSS to ask about their services in hopes the organization can be of assistance.
