Training Officers

Firearms:
Criminal Enforcement Division Officers of the Morgan City Police Department are required by the State of Louisiana to shoot and qualify on a basic firearms course.  In order to qualify each officer, the police department has three certified and trained Fire Arms Instructors.  The duty of these instructors is to provide hands on instruction and supervision to all employees who are required to maintain a firearms certification.  In addition to these duties, departmental instructors provide instruction and supervision to citizens within the community on proper firearm safety and usage.

Defensive Tactics:
Within the Morgan City Police Department Criminal Enforcement Division, Officers as well as Correctional Officers are required to pass a Defensive Tactics Certification Class, in order to perform their prospective duties.  The Morgan City Police Department has three certified Defensive Tactics Instructors, who teach departmental personnel, as well as assist other agencies in the surrounding area in various law enforcement academies.
